Taking care of business

When You are a Senior - Falls May Be Unexpected
But They Should Not Be a Surprise!
This is my pitch for Fall Prevention Month 2012.  I could cite all the statistics and seriousness of falls over the age of 65. However, falls are just plain bad and frankly embarrassing, which is why people don't take care of the problem. That is, under reporting and reluctance to act.

I'm privileged to be associated with the Fall Prevention Coalition at USC's Gerontology Center and Heart of Ida, Long Beach.  Both are working to reduce the rate and severity of falls. Will we succeed?

To do so would mean we'd have to take care of business - now.
